Wild About Wellbeing - Mental Health Programme for Schools
Woodland Adventure Club CIC is working in conjunction with the Bucks Mental Health Support Team (MHST) to provide a specially designed programme to encourage and inspire children to develop confidence and self-esteem through outdoor learning in a school’s outdoor environment.
The MHST is a new NHS England initiative designed to support young people experiencing a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties. To ensure young people in Bucks are able to receive support in a variety of formats, the MHST and Woodland Adventure Club have created a new partnership to create the ‘Wild about Wellbeing’ programme. The six week programme will cover topics including; growth mindset, hopes and fears, self-awareness, understanding worries, relationships and coping with change.
In Wild About Wellbeing, children learn to solve problems, make their own decisions and take acceptable risks through a range of fun and challenging outdoor activities. Sessions offer children the opportunity to understand boundaries (both physical and social), use tools appropriately and provides time to explore their environment. Activities are designed to stimulate their imagination, giving them experiences and skills they can transfer into the classroom.
